A Giant Leap for Young Explorers

We're unveiling the brand-new Rocket Launcher — an interactive museum exhibit where kids design, build, and launch their very own rockets. And to celebrate, we're going big.

On launch day, youth-built rockets will ride a weather balloon to the edge of space — nearly 100,000 feet above Earth — with a live camera streaming the entire journey. Plus hands-on STEM activities, space rover driving, and more.

A Full Day of Discovery

From building rockets to driving space rovers, there's something incredible for every young explorer.

Rocket Building Workshop

Design and construct your own rocket to be launched on the new Rocket Launcher exhibit — or send it to the edge of space aboard the weather balloon.

Weather Balloon Launch

Watch a high-altitude weather balloon carry youth-built rockets and a live camera to nearly 100,000 feet. The payload will be recovered after its journey back to Earth.

Space Rover Challenge

Assemble real electronics robots modeled after space rovers, then navigate them through a simulated planetary surface. Teamwork and problem-solving required!

Rocket Launcher Exhibit

Be among the first to experience the museum's newest interactive exhibit — generously donated by a local family committed to inspiring the next generation.

Mission Control Experience

Step inside a real-time mission control center, monitor telemetry from the weather balloon, and communicate with the "flight crew" throughout the launch.

And Much More

Interactive science demos, photo ops in astronaut gear, space-themed arts and crafts, guest speakers, giveaways, and surprises throughout the day.

Watch It Happen Live

Follow the entire journey from launch to the edge of space. Stream the onboard camera and track the balloon's real-time GPS position.
